Privates on parade: Naked cyclists at Hyde Park Corner during the UK branch of the World Naked Bike Ride Event shocked the Household Cavalry

It wasn't quite what they expected to see after the Trooping the Colour ceremony before the Queen.

Soldiers from the Household Cavalry were crossing Hyde Park on horseback when they were confronted by a mass of naked cyclists.

More than 1,100 of them - many wearing only bicycle helmets - had gathered for an annual naked ride to protest at the world's dependency on cars.

An onlooker said: 'The cyclists were just starting off when suddenly from the other direction came the horses.

'There was a little bit of pandemonium. The horses must have been a bit surprised because I doubt it is something they see every day but they just continued calmly on their way.'
